Sketch for you from Truly Scrumptious

Today is Wednesday right?! WoW am I having a week, I am forgetting everything this week! Monday it was pouring and when I left work my car wouldn't start. Upset, I went home and my Dad drove me back to work the next day and took a look at the car. WELL I left the car in gear that is why it wouldn't start. OHHH it gets better, when he came by to pick me up I was searching frantically for the house keys. They were at the front door!

Anyway on to Wednesday! Hopefully I will keep my head on straight. Today we have a new challenge over at Truly Scrumptious! It's a great sketch! Lately I can tell you that all I have been doing is coloring. I have added lots of news stamps to my ever growing collection and I want to play with them all. I know soon I will have to stop and give them all a home on some card or project. For my Maggie I colored her with Copics and totally ruined her jumper! So what better than to paper piece her outfit! The seal is from Whimsy stamps, so cute! It felt odd not putting any kind of ribbon on my card, but I didn't know where it would go so I left it out.

Well I hope you like my inspiration for our challenge over at Truly Scrumptious and join us. Come on over and see what the rest of the team has for you too! See you there!

Challenges:

Woodware: Clean and Simple

Gingerloft: Dies and Punches

Fancy Feathers

Hi!! It's a new challenge over at Fussy and Fancy and for the next two weeks we want to see zippers or feathers. I purchased the Sweet Pea stamp a couple of weeks ago and right away knew I wanted to color her in monotone colors and make her eyes just come out at you. Well after inking her up and coloring her in W00, W1, W3, W5, W7, W9 she just waited....

Everything just fell into place all at once, this great challenge, the ribbon, the feathers and the bling. I have to say this one is one of my favorites. About my ribbon, I got it at our local craft store. I have been playing with making all kinds of flowers, the ribbon is folding in half and stitched and gathered. This one was just perfect for this card with it's button from Tim Holtz.

This card almost didn't make it. Apparently my sweet but crazy cat Percy loves the feathers! The first time I laid out the card, he ran off with the flower, when I finally started putting it all together he ran off with the card! I usually display my cards on my bookcase for a little while this one has to go behind the curio glass.

Come join us over at Fussy and Fancy. Come take a look at the unique ideas for your zippers and feathers.

Challenges:

Crafts and Me: Anything Goes
Flutterby Wednesdays: Open
One Stop Craft: Plenty of Bling

Go Green with Pixie Cottage

It's another day of double fun challenges. If you are here looking for Truly Scrumptious just scroll down after here and take a look. The Pixie Cottage this week is going green! Not Earth green but the color green. Here's a chuckle...my friend Tracy and I have what we call play dates. If you have visited me before you know all about them. Well this past Sunday I was at her house and we got to talking about what we were working on for challenges and she said, " I noticed that alot of challenges are for green, why??" I thought she was pulling my leg. It really didn't hit her that St. Patty's was around the corner...She had a DUH moment.

My sweet little Maggie is sitting on the Stump by Sandra Hammer. She is one of Pixie Cottage's designers. It can be found here along with other great stamps that are great for Magnolia stamps to play on.

Come go green with us at the Pixie Cottage. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Challenges:
The Stamp Fairy: Green
Magnolia-licious: Green
Aly Sunday Challenge: Anything Goes

Spring colors

My favorite time of year is arriving, Spring! I know, I know I live in Florida and I technically don't have seasons. I guess I should say it's my favorite COLOR time of year! I love all the soft colors that are used this time of year and how flowers bloom....on cards.

What do you think of my flowers? Lately I have been in a flower making mood. I have been watching tons of videos on you tube and just playing. These little cuties on my card were inspired by You tube. I don't know which video exactly but basically I searched for handmade flowers and watched practically all of them.

So a little extra details, this is a Penny Johnson stamp by Stampavie. The Dp is by Echo Park, SpringTime. I love this paper!! I went by my local scrapbook shoppe today and she got in a bunch of gorgeous Easter paper. I had to be good and give her a chance to put it in the system first, so Friday after a teach my class there, I'm coming home with some! LOL! Until then I have my Echo Park to play with!

Challenges:
Lexi Creations: Easter
Sugar Creek Hollow: Handmade Flowers

Welcome Spring!

I know it's not Spring yet but we did spring forward and hour. My munchkins were over the top excited to know they can get an extra hour of hide and seek outside. It's as good as Santa in thier eyes, lol!

On my last post I mentioned I teach a distress ink class in our local scrapbook store, this is my second card for the class. I kept the layout simple since we focus mostly on watercoloring. I love this Penny Black stamp, A Little Bird Told me.. It brings a sweet sentiment too but I left it blank for the owner to decide what they want to say. I hope they enjoy it!!

Hope you are having a quiet and restful Sunday. Thanks for coming by my quick little post.

Challenges:

Craft your passion: Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamps: Anything Goes
Charisma Cards: Easel Cards

Thinking of you

Today we have a wonderful sketch over at Fussy and Fancy Friday challenge. I just love this Penny Black stamp. Her name is Daydream and certainly makes you wonder... This little sweetie is serving a dual purpose. I teach Distress ink watercolor at our local scrapbook shoppe and this is one of two cards for class next week. We started simple in class with snowmen then butterflies. This is the first time I will challenge them with skin tones and creating a scene. I hope they like it! I'll post the second card in a day or two, I would love to hear what you think.

I dabbled in a little ribbon rose making. Not to shabby, I could use a little more practice but I still like the results. The paper is GORGEOUS! It's by Sassafras. I am going to play with it some more in the near future.

Come on over to Fussy and Fancy and join us for some fun and Mindy's fabulous sketch! As always I welcome your thoughts and opinions. I look forward to hearing from you.

Paper Series Part Three

Hi Everyone, I'm back with playing with my paper samples. Today I have three for you. Papertrey Ink is my first one. It's what I use all the time and I love it. It blends easily and the coloring is soft. I'm a little bias on this one. It's my favorite!

I have to say I have a new found love too! This Cryogen is pretty awesome. I'm showing you two images because I tried coloring my first image with the same colors I started using in the Heavenly paper (previous post). I think my markers still had the color glopped on them and it didn't blend well. So I started a new image. I love this paper. The colors are so rich on this paper and blend without any effort. I see a pack of Cryogen in my near future! Love the shimmer!

Lastly, the third tonight is the Gina K Luxury, also great paper. My only con is that the paper is thicker than most and when you cut an image out it can be hard on the hands.
Well I think I given you a little look at most of the popular papers out there. I do have one more and that is the Bee Paper which I will play with in a day or two. I have a busy weekend ahead. Suzanne Dean is visiting our local scrapbook shoppe for classes, I'm excited! I will be sure to let you know how it turns out. So all in all, I got to play some paper and it really does come down to what you like. So far I was only disappointed with one and found some new options too. I hope this helps a little for the beginners out there. Thank you for joining me.

Playing with Paper Part Two

Today I am just focusing on two of the six papers I introduced yesterday. I didn't want everyday to be a crazy long post!

First, the Heavenly White Premium Ultra Smooth. Yesterday this paper showed promise. The skin blended well for me. Today is a different story, I used RV91, RV93, RV95 and tried coloring Tilda's dress. Blending was a no go. All my strokes just sat on top of the paper and glopped up. (Is that a word?) I started another Tilda in hopes that it was just me but unfortunately it wasn't me. I have one more little sweetheart that I am going to save and see if Prisma Pencils are they way to go on this one.

My other try today was the Neenah Class Crest Smooth Solar White. The colors are rich on this paper. I used R81, R83, R85 for the dress and E47,E44,E40 for the hair and shoes. This is the one that I had trouble with her face yesterday. Today I was able to blend her face better and really liked coloring.

The only thing I can see is that this paper bleeds outside the lines and the back of the card only needs a stamp and you have a mirror of Tilda. I can see all the colors just as deep. So be VERY light with your touch or have a colorless blender handy for this one. I still liked this paper and with a little practice on my part I would use again. I did finish coloring Cherry Tilda but she had some mistakes that I didn't like. Like her awful shoes! I hope I can use part of her in future or maybe I can paper piece her shoes, hmmmmm....

I would really love to know what makes the color sit on top of the paper like it did on the Heavenly Paper. Anyone know?

Lisette
